Update. I decided that since my track bar is getting here tomorrow I could go ahead and throw my spacers on and take the old track bar off tonight. And while I was at it one thing led to another and I decided to clean up and winterize a little.

Getting started.

Sprayed with Simple Green

Finally cut the boots off my shocks. This is why you shouldn't run them, look at all that dirt and crap inside.

Pulled the splash shield back.

Notching the pinch seam so that I can hammer it back.

Also cut off the tips of the exposed screws. I don't like them floating around above my tires.

Hammered.

Painted with rust inhibitor.

Looks like I have snow plows or something in front of my tires.

Went to Advance to get a set of coil spring compressors, (by the way, I despise parts monkeys), and saw this, had to take a picture. Cool car bro!

Got the coil out and added the spacer.

I'm also refurbishing my shocks and painting my axle.

Cut the rear shocks boots off, this is all the crap that was inside.

Stupid Skycrapper bracket is off for good.

I stopped working because I had to come upstairs and watch the Walking Dead season premiere, and by the time it was over I didn't feel like going back and working more so I'm done for tonight. Tomorrow the factory track bar is coming off and my new one is going on, then I'll finish painting everything and maybe take it back to the alignment shop if it needs it.

It took forever but I finally got the old track bar out and my new one in. That thing fought me every step of the way.

It was being such a pain that I finally took my angle grinder and cut the old bar off at the tie rod end. I also had a Dewalt cutting wheel blow up in my face.

Burnt rubber smelled terrible.

Then when I tried to pull the cotter pin out it disintegrated to the point that I couldn't get pliers on it so I had to remove the entire bracket and drill it out.

After that I couldn't get enough leverage on the thing to get the nut off, so I had to bolt it back to the Jeep and use this contraption to get enough force to turn it.

Finally off.

But it wasn't giving up that easy, that tapered end wasn't finished yet. I soaked it with PB. And by soaked it with PB I mean I put it in a bucket of PB and let it soak.

Then I drilled a hole so that I could hammer down straight on to the top.

After using the torch and more PB and then more torch I started smacking the **** out of it with a punch and hammer. It still wasn't giving in. Eventually my roommate came home from work and while I balanced the bracket and held the punch with a pair of vice grips he used both hands to hit it with a 3lb hammer. It took a few tries to get the punch lined up perfect and for him to get his aim dialed in, but after one good solid hit it popped out.

New track bar, check that out!

Got the new bar in, torqued it down, gave it a few shots of grease, took it for a drive, re-tightened, and called it a night. Finished up a Sam Adams Octoberfest earlier, now I'm killing this.

I will be taking it back to the alignment shop and have them go over everything again. The steering wheel is straight and it drives ok, but I want it to be perfect.

I also added a little personal touch to my shocks. They are poor mans Bilsteins.

Started cleaning and painting the rear wheel wells today. I soaked it in Simple Green and rinsed it off, while it was drying I took a few pictures to show how it sits now with the 1" spacer up front. The rear is still almost exactly 1" taller so I might grab a pair of ZJ isolators next time I'm at a pick-n-pull. Then I'll be between 5-5.5 inches of lift. Hmm... 33s?

Cleaned and drying. The half-assed factory undercoating is worthless.

Killed the worlds largest yellow jacket too, I sprayed him to death with brake cleaner.

Painted my wiper arms while I was at it.

First coat of paint, I had to stop here because I was losing light fast. I'll hit it again tomorrow.

Put the Hella covers back on.

And a few more pictures.

It was a beautiful fall day today so I gave the Jeep a little shakedown run to check the front end out. I have significantly less rubbing after the 1" spacer and minor trimming, and there are no more weird "clunks" and straining metal noises since I got rid of the POS Skyjacker bracket. All is well.
