trans fluid is like new. I drain the pan every other oil change. where exactly do i unplug the tranny? lol

i think the ecu is the problem. cause when i throw the other ecu i have in the relays and fan dont do anything. the gauges still dont work and i get no bus still but i think that is from it not being flashed to my jeep. tomorrow gonna see if i can get it flashed.

this is the one that was out of my jeep. notice the corrosion. and the missing prong

To be honest I have never unplugged the tranny in a xj only on other vehicles. Take a look around if you find it unplug it and try I fire the thing up. You could be on to something there but it's hard to sliver that little amount of corrosion would cause the issue.

ill look around. it makes sense that the ecu is bad cause with the other one in the relays and fan dont come one cause the short isnt being caused... if it was wires rubbed or something the ecu wouldnt have an effect.

So many people to thank here's a start to the list
Spidertrax, Yukon, rustys, warn, branik, PSC, advance adapters, Bad wheels, interco, essentially off-road. And many more

Most of all thanks too Ian Johnson and the xtreme off-road crew for all their work, and 4 wheel to heal for their part in it too.

Im getting mixed reviews about if the ECU needs to be reprogrammed. Some yes/no. The ECU i got off my friend is out of a 99 xj 4.0 aw4.

only reason im thinking the ECU is bad because when i plug mine in the relays and aux fan go nuts. when i plug in the other one they dont do that leading me to think the ecu is shorted.

Good mechanic friend did some researching for me and found out that the prong that corroded off my ECU is the power feed to the PCM from fuse 22, 15a under the hood. looks like another ecu matching numbers or reprogram the one i have SHOULD be the ticket.
