Aux Fan blade coming apart.

Have you guys ever heard of this happening?

The wife calls me on the way home from work saying the car made a loud noise. When I wen't to check it out I found chunks of fan blade and shroud under the car.

I'm wondering if I have a bad motor mount or something, or if this was just a catastrophic failure of this electric radiator fan.

check the fan, or whats left of it, for burn marks from the belt. the retaining ring probably just wore out and let the fan loose out of the housing. for the motor to hit the efan itll take REALLY bad mounts.
