Anyone wanna guess how many xj's are left?

I was purely wondering, does anyone have an idea of how many xj's still exist today?

Im worried that one day they will all disappear.

Considering
-Part outs
-Scrapped
-Totalled
-Lost?
-Destroyed
-Converted to something crazy
-Any other "deaths" of an xj.

From the tech FAQ-

Number made per year.

84 - 93,326
85 - 120,328
86 - 107,225
87 - 139,295
88 - 187,136
89 - 207,216
90 - 151,230
91 - 151,578
92 - 137,826
93 - 144,961
94 - 123,391
95 - 120,234
96 - 286,463
97 - 258,958
98 - 182,845
99 - 186,116
00 - 165,590 (Freedom Edition - 2,821)
01 - 120,454

Total = 2,884,172

I'd guess about 2 million or maybe a little more. It is truly sad that they will one day be extinct...

They will probably be around a lot longer than a lot of us. I mean, look at how many GP's & CJ's are still around.

I know this could change in the future but as of now, I'm never planning to sell mine and I'm only 31. It could be around for many, many years to come if it stays alive.

Valid point. I was just thinking about those XJ's who see salt. (I live in Maine) I've seen a lot of late model ones that are completely rusted up. They may live on in the south, but elsewhere who knows...

Yea, mine is never going anywhere.

It's sad that people treat an amazing, discontinued vehicle as a disposable car.

Way of the world I'm afraid - There are quite a few here(UK), on eBay selling for spares? I guess the owners can't afford the rediculous prices quoted by the 'stealerships' for repairs...I was 'quoted' $600 by a bosch specialist to replace my faulty no1 (diesel) injector, parts & labour (it has a needle sensor valve which communicates how much fuel's delivered to the fuel injection pump) fly by wire technology...baa humbug!!!

The injector from 'bosch' costs new, $300..so 10mins work by the 'specialist' to fit = $300 labour charge..thankyou very much, I'll have some of that

It's a good job I know how to weild a spanner(wrench) or mine would be on the 'bay' as spares or repairs???

This is one of the main reasons I bought my Sport. Replacement parts in excess.

Not like my mid-90's Geo Tracker which Chevy stopped making parts for years ago..

Heh, mates-

I was saving mine from the crusher, when I got it.

And I'll tell you what-

It'll be a cold day in h#%% before she'll end up in that situation again.

Buy a spare. If I'm ever rich, I'll buy several, just so I know they are there.
