Another tire thread..opinions.

Okay..so I got in contact with a guy off craigslist who is sellin some tires. He offered me a set of 33's brand new he says. BFG Mt's 300 for all 4 just tires. I would jump on it but I dont want 33's..nor could i fit them without alot of trimming. He also has 6 wildcat ext's with 4 stock jeep wheels. 65% tread he says and hes willin to sell them to me for 250. Mounted too. How are the wildcats and is it worth it to spend 250 on tires with 65% tread left?? He has 2 sets of 2 other mt's that have 95% tread but one set of 2 is a knockoff bfg mt and the other is wild country radial rvt's.

Oh...and all the tires mentioned besides the 33's are 31 inch tires.

So..should I buy the 6 wildcats and get some use out of them??

i have never used them, if i were you i would search on here, and online for reviews...i have used wild countrys several times, and they are pretty decent tires, real loud though...

I read one thread on here and nothin but good things. And on some other sites same thing. He sent a pic and the tread doesnt look like theres ALOT left. But itll be fine I think. I mean 250 for 6 tires and 4 wheels all mounted up ready to put on seems like an okay deal to me.

SO another guy hit me up and was offering me some Goodride Tellurides. 31x10.5x15's. With like 90% tread left. He said they are a mt/at hybrid type tire. And they do awesome in mud, snow and ice. He sent me some pics.

they are the same as a westlake cr857 they are chineese tires if that bothers you?

i ran 235/85/16's of the same tire on my old sidekick and they last forever theyll probably get age cracks before the tread wears out

also the ones in those pictures have been siped too so that should make them a little better traction wise
they are awesome in the winter i didnt think so great in the mud and noisy as hell on the highway

i liked them overall remember that they are a tire that retails out for like 220 canadian brand new

good to hear they last a long time. yeah he said they were siped so that is a plus. noise doesnt matter to me one bit lol. not sure what canadian dollars equal in usd but sounds like alot?? ha

i dont do enough mudding to really NEED a mud terrain but it would be nice. but these look like a good all around tire. im probably gonna buy these.

i mean..these would probably do as well off road as a mt with only 65% tread right?

the goodrides look exactly like the tires we run on some of our f-250 plow trucks and they're pretty good in the snow, not sure about anything else.

I would steer away from tires siped like that, generally to prevent chunking/pieces of the tire on the outer edges of the tread from getting torn up falling off you only sipe the middle blocks of tread.

Be aware also that siping while better on road decreases a tires life if you spend a lot of time on gravel roads etc. the rocks tear the hell out of siped tires.

Probably not really a big deal if you are on pavement a majority of the time.

For 300-350 for used tires why not drop the extra couple bills and just buy new tires?

keaton 01-30-2009 11:10 PM

Yeah..i bought em for 300 a couple days ago. just put em on tonight.

And im gettin 32" bfg mt's sometime next week for 250 for 5. Not sure if the bfg's will fit though. The 31's are kinda tight on the front.
