AGENT ORANGE build

TO start off this is being built as a DD and weekend warrior XJ. I will be trying to do everything myself or with friends or my Dad. This will include lots of pictures and updated as fast as possible.

Things to follow: 3" Rustys lift, rock sliders, rear bumper

Decided to build a beefy bumper so here it its. I decided to use the 5x5 main piece as extra storage so I capped that end with an aluminum plated so it can be removed.

If I had a bumper like that the first thing I would do is go find the longest stretch of road construction cones I possibly could and center punch about 3 miles worth.

IDIdiesel 12-28-2011 01:01 PM

If i can find some cones ill get my passenger to video tape it for yall to watch!

Factory 3 bolts tie in wont hold up to anything. You need tie in plates that go down the rails.

IDIdiesel 12-28-2011 10:50 PM

Ill be working on some tie in plates in the future. Coming from my Dad- If you need extra tie ins your doing to much with a stocker and your DD. Guess its his way of trying to limit my stupid ideas

Nice work man, sweet bumper.

that is terrible advice. if you get stuck in any offroad situation, you dont want that monstrosity ripping out of the weak metal of the three stock mounts

Kudos to you for doing the work yourself, but feel free to take a few minutes and at least taper that bumper to kinda match the lines of the front grille. That thing is going to look terrrrrible.

And lucky you for finding a clean orange XJ.

IDIdiesel 12-29-2011 10:14 AM

Most of the offroading I do is easy stuff for stockers to do but some harder lines can be taken.
dcorn- what grille line would you be referring to? I have the side bars angled back. Ill get some pictures up today so you can see how it looks.
Just waiting on paint to dry that I did this morning so by tonight it should be installed!!! Heres a quick look but wet painthttp://i1093.photobucket.com/albums/.../IMG_01771.jpg

Finally got the bumper mounted with the last bit of daylight avalible for some photos. On the drivers side is the removable plate to access my storage. Some quick poser shots andone of my brothers YJ with the bumper he built

x2:cheers:

IDIdiesel 12-30-2011 10:50 PM

what makes it look silly?

theshaolin 12-30-2011 11:22 PM

Yeah, it looks goofy. Too beefy for a stock looking vehicle.

Blinker_Fluid 12-30-2011 11:34 PM

It looks cool in a Mad Max kinda way, but the rest of the vehicle looks too nice for it. It's like a guy in a suit wearing a construction helmet.

Either way, I'd really hate to get t-boned by that bumper. Nice fab skills!
