??? about dynamat and heat....

So, I want to pull the carpet out of my 98 xj and think line it. I heard from my bud that his jeeps floor stayed really hot due to the less insulation. If I put down dynamat, would that work and think line over it?

I would actually recommend getting some DEI heat shield and putting it underneath above the hot spots.

This isn't about the heat really, but the fact that you mention Dynamat by name means that you probably don't know that there are products just as good that aren't a rip-off and that you're probably planning to erroneously line 100% of the surface in the dampening material. Have a look at SoundDeadenerShowdown.com before you waste time and money.

Hahah rhino line, damn auto correct, but I just wasn't always sure if dynamat was the best, I guess I can look into heat shields as well

Link is in my sig, the damp works pretty good, plan on doing doors and hatch and this and that. In the summer when wearing shorts my legcan touch the tran tunnel without getting seared, at operating temp, road noise was reduced significantly. Once you get start quieting one spot the place you don't have covered sounds like a megaphone. You're warned. Make sure you spray some self etching primer on any shining damplifier before coating with bedliner, if you want it to adhere.

Make sure to pull the full exahust heat shield from a grand cherokee and install it on you're cherokee. I rhino lined my xj and after a day of wheelin the floor got so hot around the muffler It melted my rhino line to the back seat floor mat. Also when it got hot it would put off a nasty smell. After the full heat shield no problems. Although my tranny tunnel does give off annoying heat and there is more road noise. But I like it.

The Damplifier I used is safe to +400*. Good ***** but not cheap. I've had not a problem but that might not be the case with other kinds of damp. Steer clear of some less expensive, asphalt based, products.

Do it right and do it once!!
