The 96 XJ how was it?

Reason i ask is there is one a 4x4 with about 120,000 mile that i can buy for $1500. I alrerady have and love my 01 with 90,000 miles but hate that it is racking up mileage so quick as a daily driver and have been looking for a 98+ to buy but this one came up.

I like my 96 and find that there are way more parts that I can find for it than my 99 that I had.

Well a '96 is exactly the same mechanically as the '97 and '98 newer body style since that was the year everything switched to OBDII, it is the only year with the classic older styling and the newer tech under the hood. My brother-in-law's '96 came with the 29 spline 8.25 rear as well.

96 was really a mish-mash year, so it honestly is a toss up as to what yours will have parts/options wise, but as others have said the availability of parts is a lot greater for pre-97 XJ's, getting a build sheet from the factory will help a lot
