My 92 goes to about 1100 for 3 seconds and the starts dropping. But its 80 degrees here in Florida. A week or two ago well had 20's here. It would start at 1300-1400 and slowly drop.
So weather conditions, altitude, engine age, tune up age and parts, condition of sensors, all contribute.
I have a fresh engine all new everything in my 92. Its a stroker with injectors swapped. So my rpms will be different than say a 92 stock with 250k on it.
I would say that you could look into cleaning. Maybe run some lucas injector cleaner sometimes. How old's your tune up parts? Maybe clean the throttle body. How old us your air filter? Just regular maintenance stuff. Possibly clean the intake air temp sensor. Definitely take a good look at your vacuum lines.
