4.56 with 31's???

Anyone running around on 31's with 4.56 gears? How does your XJ like them while going 55 - 75mph?

I'm going to be getting an RC 3" lift for future 33's (currently on new 31's), and I don't want to waste money on re-gearing twice (4.10->4.56).

Also, should I get jks miniskids, zone upca brace and a zj steering linkage if I'm going to be running 33's in the future? I don't do hardcore wheeling, but I do love full throttle muddy field runs and don't want to be stranded with a broken control arm mount(s).

Thanks for any input.

Assuming you're talking about an automatic - which you didn't specify and it makes a difference - you'll be turning about 2800 RPM at 75MPH. Sit on the gears until you get bigger tires.

Only reason I wouldn't do ZJ steering is if I was doing OTK or one-tons.

Yeah, I geared my Comanche based on my experience with my heavier LJ. 4.56 gears with 32" tires is a bit overkill, but good for towing. I would have rathered 3.73 or 4.11.

I guess my only option is to put bigger tires on now.

On a Jeep? Oh no, we can't have that...

I have 4;10's and 31's. I do feel a bit overgeared though.

I would definitely go 456 instead of 410.

You WILL go up from 31s gauranteed. ;-)

I just did a ZJ steering swap - very nice.

I loved 4.56 gears on 31" tires. Plenty of get-up-and-go.

My jeep info says AW4. I didn't think about holding off until I actually had 33's. I'll do that. I only picked the ZJ linkage because it's stronger than stock, and it's pretty cheap.

33's are the perfect size

3.90 is the perfect ratio for 31's under an XJ. You can get them for the C8.25", but not the D30.

For sure. Five them mounted and balanced is $890. Can't wait!!!

My power hunger needs will be fulfilled, then.
