33s on a welded D35

Well, this is a question that has been asked a million times over, i've done some searching but can't find a thread with the exact details i'm looking for. I've been running 33s on my Cherokee for about a year but i've been open front and rear, obviously, without issue.

So, what i'm wondering, is if anyone is running a welded D35 on 33s without issue, i am willing to upgrade the rear axle, however, if i can avoid doing so i will. (Would do a Ford 8.8 swap but having a lot of trouble finding one with the correct gears)

My XJ has a 4.0L with 3:55 gears... i should probably point out that i have a bit of a heavy foot, most of the time off road is either mud or sand, occasionally rocks but not all that often.

You will break axle shafts or grenade the diff. Weld it, run it 'till it breaks, then upgrade. Or, upgrade now, but with your heavy foot and a welded 35 on 33s I'd say carnage is certain.

Ive got buddies detonating D35 shafts welded on 31s. I say run it but plan ahead for an upgrade.

It's not will it grenade but when. Luckily 29 spline 8.25s are easy to find, common in 3.55, bolt in and are comparable in strength to D44s. If it grenades upgrade to an 8.25. If that grenades then it's 8.8 time.

Like the rest said, just do it and then upgrade. My 8.25 29 spline is welded and I'd say I beat the **** out of it. Haven't broke a shaft yet.

I think he's saying if the video had a large breast having female with daddy issues walk in after and say "OHH EMM GEE THE DANA 35 AXLE DETONATED" while bouncing up and down, holding enough beer on ice to make an afternoon out of (she works out), while holding a medium well porterhouse, and ****ting strawberries that it would be pretty cool.

If it's entertaining it was going to be regardless of the D35 breaking. They don't do much, they just sorta pop and that's it.

Just like my HP30 when it popped on me... Sigh.... Now when the D44 carrier snapped in half that made an awesome noise!

I've seen lots of axles break. A few 35's and a lot of 30 shafts. They were never exciting, they just pop. It's only funny when someone tries to continue wheeling a broken 30 shaft and it starts to tear stuff up lol.
