I think they'd look good if you filled them in with sheet metal!

Yeah, but I think I am going to chop them a bit more and instead of attaching the front to the bumper I'll weld it to the fender skins I got from jeeptubes.com that I still need to install. That way I can always remove them fairly easily if I choose to. Plus, doing it that way will cause me to turn them outward, so that they will extend out far enough to give me full tire coverage after chopping more off of them. That will change the profile. Instead of being so wide in the front they will come off of the body at an angle. I think this will look much better.

Now I just need to find time to work on them.

OK, condensed thread is updated with pics of my driver's side tube fender. Fender skin is installed (not painted yet), tube is welded on (not finished welding yet), and sheet metal has initial bend with the general shape. Final shaping and welding still need completed along with cleaning up the welds and then painting.

Go check it out.... http://www.jeepforum.com/forum/f177/...rsion-1470100/ Then leave your comments here.

camfan07 - thanks for the feedback. Of course I think they are too wide too, but my hands are tied here in PA, BECAUSE I need full tire coverage to pass inspection and keep from getting pulled over. I am going to need to keep the doors on until I make my tube doors as well. If it were up to me I would run with no flares and no doors at all, but that is the price I had to pay to move back up here to PA. It blows!

Will do. Hopefully I'll get a chance to work on it some more and wrap everything up before Spring is here, because once soccer starts the first week of March my downtime dwindles down to just about f'n zilch.

I might not play soccer this Spring, so that will free up a day, but there is no way I'm not coaching my son's U-13 team. I just put this team together from all the cast offs of the other U-13 and U-12 teams and have grown quite attached to them. We won our division in the Fall and are getting bumped up to div 2 in the Spring.

Thanks. . . . And I'm really curious what kind of success or complete failure I'm going to have with my 2" adapters up front. Everyone warned me not to go that route, but I was already into it for too much money and didn't want to go through the pain of selling my waggy 44, picking up a ford to match my 9" rear, and going through the hassle of getting it set up for the XJ. So, it is what it and I guess we shall see. . . . .

Post #76 in my build thread http://www.jeepforum.com/forum/f177/...00/index6.html

2" wheel adapters to bring the front Waggy D44 axle out to the same width as the 9" rear and also to match the bolt pattern.
