No clue, but for right now it is either have them like that or just have them hanging. If that is at too much of an angle (flat) then I'll have to get the new shock mounts welded on.

Ahh i see. Im plannin to cut a hole in the floor and run my shocks up to my roll cage inside and didnt know if there was some benefit to mounting them on an angle like yours.

Not that I'm aware of. I'm sure I'm either going to have to go up through the floor with mine if I keep the lower mounts where I have them. I'm more than likely going to weld new lower shock mounts on the axle tube though. I'll be able to cut down on how much of an angle the shocks are at now.

The thrust angle on the shock makes it completely usess. I'd remove em before you bend a shock shaft...or worse.

Thanks for the info, but no worries there man. . . This thing is just sitting in the garage and the lower shock mounts are just resting there. I don't have bolts to attach them if I wanted to.

Not much, but any forward progress is good, right? I picked up this used gas tank skid probably about 2 years ago now. Just going to clean it up a bit and spray it with some rattle can bedliner. While paint is drying I think I'll finally work on centering the front axle since I just slapped it under there all wonky real quick, so I could get it trailered to PA.

Didn't get to thefront axle, but I got the gas tank skid and my sliders all prepped for paint. Might be too busy playing with the kids in the snow tomorrow to get anything done and right now I'm laying here hooked up to a ton of wires for my sleep study. Fun stuff

Got the gas tank skid and T&T sliders all prepped, but then had to work the past 4 days, so that's all the further I got. I have the next day and a half off, so after I put up the xmas lights, before the wife kills me, I'll see if I can't get some more odds and ends prepped/painted and possibly even installed.

love this thread man... just arranged a deal on a 2000 XJ for 100$ this past week and have been reading through this thread bit by bit!

pick mine up next sunday can't wait to get crackin on it...

part of why i got mine for only 100$ is no tires/rims. already snagged today some older aluminum ones off kijiji (like CL) for 20$ each today... hoping to do something similar with mine we'll see how far it goes... got an 86 F150 i may strip for some parts like the 8.8" with a ford racing LSD in the back...
