Question 2001 Cherokee headliner

Does anyone make an aftermarket headliner for the 2001 XJ? When I owned my '87 Grand National, there was a company that offered headliners with an ABS backing. You could bend it or twist it(during the install) any way you wanted, without hurting it. Matter of fact; it was shipped rolled up and in a cardboard tube.

You can buy DIY supplies to recover it yourself, or check out the junkyards. I paid $ 19 for an XJ headliner in perfect condition. I have never seen an aftermarket XJ headliner.

You have to try pretty hard to screw up an XJ headliner board too since you can pull them right out the back of the hatch.

Pull the headliner board.
Go to Hancock Fabrics (or someplace similar) and buy headliner material.
Parts store for adhesive.
Clean off old material.
Spray adhesive and apply headliner material.
Reinstall new headliner.

Could anyone quickly answer what the dimensions are on an XJ headliner?

Google says 54"x90".

Although I have to admit I prefer my bedlined headliner. Way easier and I never have to worry about it coming down again. I did the board with roll-on and matched the light housings and speaker covers using spray-on. Although the rear light looks like it's wrong in this pic. Flash I guess.

Is that bedliner loud at all when it rains, or when driving on the highways?

Not at all, well okay, no louder than a cherokee already is. A bedlined roof would be, but I bedlined the headliner board and reinstalled it. The only real complaint anyone's had is that the texture pokes my dad's head (he's tall and bald)

haha right you are

That's interesting! I may consider spraying seeing as after it's done you would never really have to worry about it again.

Still, looking at the fabric prices, and how easy it is to remove the headliner from an xj it's not too big of a project.. price-wise, or labor-wise.
