1997 jeep cherokee XJ having issues

my jeep sometimes has an issue starting. before i replaced the tps and wiring the jeep would buck and bog down and eventually die. now after probably about a couple months the jeep sometimes has an issue with starting after i ran out of gas one night. Ive filled up completely a week ago and it seems that now im a little low on fuel but not too low. when it doesn't start i put my foot on the gas start it up and keep my foot on the gas and keep the RPMS above 2,000 and feather it above 3 then back and then it idles on its own. then when i put the jeep in drive it tries to die but then i put my foot in it and its OK until i come to a complete stop. can someone give me an idea of whats going on could it be my fuel injectors or my AIC. i don't think its the fuel pump because i can hear the fuel pump engaging.

could be that you sucked up some trash into the filter when you ran out of gas.
