'00 XJ Headliner

I was thinking about taking out the headliner in my Jeep and painting the top flat black, but didn't know how it was gonna look and was trying to get some opinions. Thanks.

I currently have no headliner and hate every minute of it. Just my opinion.

I paid $160 to have this done. Worth every penny.

Most auto upholstery shops will redo a headliner for $100-150 or so since they're pretty easy to remove and reinstall. I don't have one in mine and it doesn't bother me, but I don't have carpet either and half the interiors a wreck. I wouldn't pull it in an XJ if the interior was in good shape.

I took mine completely out and relocated the dome light up above the rear view mirror. I really like the way it looks. At first it seemed noisy but I stuffed some sound deadening material between the roof and the cross members on the ceiling and now it doesn't sound any different than with a head liner.

i did my headliner myself in one evening. Johann Fabrics carries actual headliner material. its foam backed. they carry three colors. our grey, our tan and black. 15 dollars a yard, used 3.2 yards, and they hv some 3m spray adhesive. total cost for me was about 35 dollars because i had a coupon. its super east and look great. hardest part was furthest back around the speakers. jus spray it well and stretch it the best you can i ended up with one wrinkle back there. made me mad but when i re installed the board it ended up being underneth the trim that holds it up. i would never pay 150+ to do something i did myself in 3 hrs. tip... when using spray adhesive you spray it all over a 1.5 foot section the whole width and let it sit for 5-10 mins before rolling the fabric back. thats how long it takes to get real tacky and hold well

98 tj sahara, white, 4in skyjacker, 33s cragers, borla cat back, aem intake, stinger front, hi lift hood mount, mile marker winch, disco, b and m short throw, full amped audio, bikini top...totalled
05 tj rocky mountain, black, 2 in bb 31s, bank
00 xj marron, classic, stock dd
