I will be honest, that ramp would out flex my Jeep. I am going to go with it is because the springs are new, but I got out flexed by a curb, with the right front and left rear on it, I think that gives a new definition to mall crawler. In my defense I was in 2wd not expecting it to be a problem on dry pavement, I was trying to see if my tires rubbed my flares, I am hoping the 4wd did not engauge, because I put it in and still had to back off of the curb.

Having owned a 1983 CJ7, a 1993 YJ, a 1997 TJ and a 2011 JKUR I can say the JK is the most capable Jeep out of the box. But anything can be modified to be "better" than the others. I think the TJ Rubicon and the JK Rubicon are the best platform to start with.

That being said, I still prefer the charm and simplicity of my CJ.

Which has more peak hp than your 4.0. Your point is?

I've wheeled the 4.2L, 4.0L and the 3.8L and now my CJ has a 500hp SBC 383. I can't think of a single time I've ever needed more horsepower while off road. Better gearing yes, but not more power. The JK 3.8 is more than adaquate off road.

I never thought I'd see a Conan the Barbarian quote in jeepforum.

Didn't the CJ's have the same motor as the AMC Gremlin?

Torque>horsepower

I am not saying there is anything wrong with the 3.8, but I will take the 4.0 anyday over the 3.8. I don't care about hp crawling at 2mph. I think most will agree the 4.0 produces the torque sooner, which is more useful.
