Yellow jp79's Garage Build......so I can do my Jeep Build!!!!!!

Well I finally broke ground on my detached garage. It will be 30x36 block construction with two 10x10 roll up doors. Oh and I will have a 2 post lift installed along with it.
Once its done, my 2008 Rubicon will be getting some much needed attention in her new home. Living in south florida i plan on 4" lift with 37's. I figured i would change it up a little, lol. Hope you guys will enjoy the pictures as they get posted, and I welcome comments questions or ideas.

Here is the form

Here is my uncle pouring the slab, 33 yards of concrete 3000psi

Here is the slab waiting on block!!!

And my best friend Titan got in the pic lol

Very nice, wish I could do something similar like you, itís going to be your home away from home for now on. How come you didnít install plumbing for a small bathroom and a large sink for washing up with?

Yeah, I live on 1.25 acre's and love the space. I stubbed in the electric up front. I will run water to it for a slop sink later on. To keep it considered a "storage shed" per county code, i cant have water running to it. I also live on well and septic and to run a line to the existing septic tank would require more permits and more money and more inspections. Same also to put in a new septic tank by my garage. My well head is right behind the slab and you know the old saying "you dont pisss where you drink" When I put the sink in i will tie the drain line into the backwash line of my water softener.

I just ordered the two 10x10 roll up doors today, should be a 3 week delivery time the sales guy said......$4480.00 dollars later. FML!!!! And he was the cheapest.

I just pulled up to my house and I see all the block has been delivered. WOOHOO!! The walls are going up tomorrow!

That is going to be so cool when itís all finished and you can ďmoveĒ in. Will there be some kind of driveways in front of the roll-up doors? I sure hope I donít sound like Iím trying to find fault with your building, just curious thatís all, plus a bit envious too.

Yeah this is my 5th jeep! She is ready for a lift, but I sold my boat to build the garage so my priority is there. Im doing owner / builder so I am saving a ton of cash. When the garage is done I'm pretty sure I will do a long arm lift for sure to keep the good ride. Not sure what brand but prob gonna be teraflex!

No way do I think your trying to find fault. I have no problem awnsering questions. I have been dreaming of my own shop forever. I sold the bassboat I had to start this project. I can't wait for the finished result!!!!

To awnser your question, I do plan on a nice wide concrete driveway. I dont like getting into too much debt, so I am financing about 15,000 to finish the garage. Once that is paid back, I will design the driveway, until then, call me dirtfoot. You wont hurt my feelings at all.

does code prohibit the usage of metal buildings? what was the cost of block if you dont mind me asking. most people out here build their shops out of metal. fairly in-expensive (concrete costs more than the metal)

looks like its going to be an awesome shop though! i want to build one really bad, but it would leave me with NO backyard whatsoever

No code does not prohibit the metal buildings, although I would still be required to pull a permit to erect the steel building. My personal preference is the was the CBS block looks and will match my exixting house.

I have a good friend that works for the concrete company who hooked me up for the blocks. .99 cents per block I used about 1700 block, and 7.00 a bag for the mortar, I used 88 bags. So

The block bill was 2475, The steel was 1400, and the slab concrete was 2900. THAT DOES NOT INCLUDE THE LABOR. I paid 1850 for the block to be put up with the 3 lentils.

Here is the finished Block from yesterday:
