wrecked jeep :(

Well guys I was in a 3 vehicle wreck (a grand Cherokee, me in the middle and then a Cherokee) on Thursday. Girl in front of me had least damage just a pretty good dent in her tailgate(hit her at 25-30), the guy who hit me pretty much totalled the front end (he hit me at about 40-50 mph). Everyone is okay thankfully. Some idiot ahead of the girl i hit brake checked her and set in the chain of events. My jeep isn't to great front driver fender and flare need to be replaced, that's where I hit her, and my rear is pretty f'd up. Tailgate is smashed in and wedged in, rear cross member is bent and the rocker panel on passenger side is buckled. The valance is completely bent. My jeeps a 98 and I'm really hoping they don't total it. I have farm bureau with full coverage so hopefully that'll help. Any of you guys have an idea of what insurance will say? I'll post pics when I get to my laptop (stupid jf mobile app -_-

Glad you are ok!
Probably total it... I saw another guy who backed into a tree and had less damage and it was totaled...

Based on the vintage of the Jeep and the damage shown, I'd expect them to total it. Sorry.

That really sucks. I just recently had my rear left corner panel smashed in and they totaled the whole Jeep. mine was all cosmetic and the frame and drivetrain were not affected so I choose to keep my jeep and fix it myself after the insurance money came in.

I'd say it'll be totaled. That's not always a bad thing. If you have no intentions of selling it, buy it back from the insurance company and repair it yourself. It's relatively easy here in ohio to get a salvage title. Not sure how it is in your state, but def. worth looking into. The damage is minimal by the looks of it.

I wouldn't say damage is minimal, the tailgate I can replace with a rokmen one, if I can get the dents close to being out I'll save up for some corner armor. Fenders some hilines. The only part I don't even know about is the valance.

Can you post pictures of the front damage? From seeing the back I would say keep it and fix it yourself. The dent on the right rear corner shouldn't be too difficult to pull out. But you will need a new tailgate for sure.

Take to to a body shop and have them give you a written estimate. That will let you know the amount of work, parts, sweat, and money needed to get it back in running shape.

Just keep in mind that if you decide to buy her back and rebuild, few people will touch a salvage titled vehicle in resale/trade in. If you intend on keeping her, then it won't matter and you can rebuild her to whatever level you want.

Here in Texas the adjuster told me if the cost of the repair is over 75% of the actual cash value of the car then they total it. I would recommend getting a few written estimates from local collision shops and find the value of your Jeep prior to the accident and that will give you a better idea.

I'm moving back to tn in a few weeks and have tn insurance but kbb value before hand was 3996. Our insurance said 55% is the number.
