WranglerX '04 4.0 or '07 3.8V6

Hello all Wranglers! I'm new and considering buying my first Wrangler. In my budget I see a Wrangler X 2004 with the 4.0 I6 engine and 129k miles. Or there is a 2007 with the 3.8L V6. any preferences?

And how does this compare to other Wranglers or the Sahara? I need it for commuting 40 miles rt to work too.

If you are commuting in it I would probably go with the 07, but I think the 4.0 is regarded as a better engine than the 3.8. Personally I like the way the 04 looks better than the 07, but the 07 should do a little better on the road.

The X is the base model, so the fender flares are not painted, it has different wheels, and in the 07 probably a different radio. Mechanically all of the Wranglers are very similar with the exception of a Rubicon.

TJ Wrangler vs JK Wrangler. Do you want to daily drive a car or a tractor? There isn't a wrong answer, just a personal preference.

If I had to daily drive a Jeep, the JK is more friendly. That being said, I wouldn't trade my TJ for a JK.

They are both cars.... but yes, it is a personal preference as to which you want to drive. The JK will have a bit bigger interior and be a bit more civilized to drive on the commute.
