Wrangler Forum has nasty virus BEWARE!!

I rarely visit Wrangler Forum but once in a while if there is something I can't find here.

AS soon as I clicked on the link to the Forums I was handed the nastiest virus I have ever encountered. Luckily I was not using my primary PC.

This virus ripped right though a top level virus program.

BEWARE, I don't want to see anyone else have to deal with this.

Admin, might want to do an email blast.

Wrangler forum...
The other website competing with JF?
Or...
The Sub-Forum of JF you posted this topic in?

And what did this super virus do after it ripped through your top level AV?

My mouse was sitting in a small puddle of goo this morning.
But I am not sure if it was from the WF Virus.

Don't browse the Internet while logged into a computer as root or with an account that has full admin priveledges. Your whole system will not get infected if logged in with an account that has limited priveledges.
Don't use Internet Explorer to browse the Internet.
Try an alternate operating system to browse the internet- try a flavor of Linux. You can setup a computer to dual boot to Windows or Linux.

Either buy a iMac or start using Linux Ubuntu. I have used one or the other for the past six years and never have gotten a virus of any kind. Also have never had to purchase any anti-virus programs.

I thought this was kind of funny.

At any rate, it was most likely NOT the actual site but one of the advertisers servers that was infected. They point to the ad servers and the ad servers get infected and spread their joy that way.

More and more virus and malware are attacking Mac OSX so this will not always be the safe bet.

That's because less than 5% of the consumer PC tech market uses Mac and/or Linux.
