would a 5.0L fit better in a TJ or a YJ?

well I sold my 92 YJ. I thought about buying a TJ with a 4.0L for a daily driver/trail rig. Then my stepdad throw a monkey wrench in the whole thing by given me a 91 ford F150 4wd with a 302,auto with a mess up frame. He said find you a jeep in need of a motor and start you a project. So which wrangler would a 302 fit better in and the easiest in a YJ or a TJ? when I shop for either a YJ or a TJ would it matter if it was a previously a 4 or 6 cyl motor?

Won't matter what the original motor was. Both of them will be about the same to put the 302 into. The biggest decision you'll have to make is coil or leaf? square or round?

You will probably want a different transmission though. The AODE (new for 1991) is electronically controlled by electrical solenoids controlled by the PCM. You might be better to find a pre-'91 AOD if you want overdrive, or even a C4-C6 if you don't need OD.

If you want to keep it super simple, dump the EFI and PCM in favor of a carburetor and intake.
