Thats so funny, I was wondering the same thing the other day. I think it's because they just don't get the culture. It's kinda like dentists and lawyers who ride Harleys.

Dude, that really hurts---I had to sell my bike 14 years ago to pay for dental school and still have nightmares about it..!

Here where I'm at, there are far more TJ's and YJ's. And whoa! Guess what- I rarely get any wave from these TJ's and YJ's. And you can tell that none of these ever wheel their Jeeps. I have come to the conclusion that the wave is NOT a Jeep thing- it is a WHEELER thing. I get waves from built Cherokees, built pickup, built broncos- anything that I can tell is a wheeler, I get a wave from.

So here is my take on the TJ's and YJ's.

TJ's are primarily owned by working class men that just need a dependable vehicle OR business men that want to look rugged by driving a Jeep

YJ's are primarily owned by high school & college age kids.
Well the reason for this is because no one ever waves in a JK. So what is the point at waving if they arent gonna wave back. Can i get an amen from all the real jeepers out there... ha. i try to wave at all Jeeps...I dont discriminate but im tired of all the soccer mom's who have no clue about anything and drive 2wd JK's. these ppl dont deserve to own a jeep. Buy a minivan.

MY GOD! The answer is so simple.

Many JK owners are new Jeepers and simply don't know about the wave. Give em time and they'll figure it out. Perhaps a page in the owners manual should be dedicated to the etiquette of "the wave"

Glad to see some you ****ers can use the "soccer mom" cliche so well. My guess is 75% of of posters on this thread never take their crap off road, but still think they're rock gods or something. Keep boosting your egos, they apparently need all the help they can get.

This is my first Jeep but I still wave. I knew about it from owning previos 4x4's in the past. I think it is more of the "off-roaders" who do the waving. When I had my old 4x4's (toyota pickup with 35's and a K5 Blazer with 35's), I got waves all the times from all of the other 4x4's. I wave to all Jeep's and to all 4x4's. I'm not saying I wave to all of the 4 wheel drive rav 4's, but if it is decked out and actually looks like you wheel it, then I wave. And lets all not forget that it is called a "JEEP Wave". It is not a TJ Wave, or YJ, or ZJ, or XK, or even an JK. If you don't want to go home a cry about some middle aged woman with 4 kids with her who didn't wave back, don't wave in the first place. I wave to all Jeeps and 4x4's. If they don't wave back, then I carry on like nothing ever happend.
