keep in mind jeeps comes with ford axles(danas) and a dodge ecu. the list goes on, but jeep is for sure a red headed step child to begin with.

That's just part of the Jeep history. My 1980 CJ7 had a Chrysler automatic transmission. (a foreboding perhaps?) I also discovered that it had a GMC master cylinder. I couldn't get an AMC replacement anywhere until a mechanic friend told me to ask for a GMC unit. It was a perfect match.

How about; if you DON'T have doors that can be quickly removed, then it's no longer a Jeep...

To me, Jeeps need to be rugged.. look and feel that way

if you have 2 original parts plus the frame. the frame is the heart of the vehicle. the rest is body, drive system and suspensions. its the canvouse you create your work of art on. you put bodys, motors, and suspensions on a frame.

??? does ford own spicer? I have never heard of this before. Ford and chevy used to use dana axles about the same ammount back in the day, now it's dodge using them for just about everything and ford using them for around half of what they are putting on the road.

Ford uses the sterling axle in 3/4 ton trucks, doge uses the dana 70/80 in trucks, chevy well they just suck. For front axles ford uses a true dana 60 with lockout hubs, dodge uses a bastard child of a dana 60 front with vacuum actuated axles.

IIRC, i was literally just looking at that thread, my first comment says "12:15PM Note: He's not really clear if the diesel Jeep will be available in the U.S., though we can be sure it will overseas in Europe." Straight from the Chrysler blog.

EDIT: You also said :
"Yea lets just say it does come into the US market...

Look at the diagram it has the ability to shut the motor of when your stoped.. Judging by the looks of things this motor could just add a S*** load of unwanted electronic complexity and adding to problems caused by water. Could be potentially awesome, or it could fall on its face"

The ship of Theseus, over the years became old and piece by piece it was replaced as things wore out. After a time, every last piece of the ship had been gradually replaced. Right down to the very nails. The question is, Is it the same ship? When did it stop being the same ship? Ask someone who owns a car thses days. If you gradually replace every last part of the car, is it the same car?

For some suggestions and further reading, check out the Wikipedia page.

I saw a rig on the trail that started it's life as a TJ.

It had a sticker on the hood that said "It WAS a Jeep thing, but all that s--t broke."
