When is a "Jeep" no longer a "Jeep"

I have seen so many "Jeep's" with so many modification's that you can hardly call it a "Jeep" any more. At what point do these "modification's" become "Custom Fabrication".
A "Jeep" with a Chevy motor, Ford axil's, custom suspension and frame, and a fiberglass tub that slightly resembles a "CJ" can hardly be called a "Jeep". It seems to me that the only real Jeep product on this rig is the "Hat" that the Driver is wearing.
Plese don't get me wrong, I love my Jeep and all vehicals no matter how modifyied or customized. I'm just wondering when it's no longer a "JEEP"?

Thanks; Jim.

If it starts as a jeep, always a jeep, starts as a ford, always a ford, etc

If I see a huge built buggy that happened to be using a Jeep "shell" for the body & cab I'd still call it a Jeep, but to me a true Jeep has to have at least 3 of the following: original or factory replacement engine, original body, suspension components that can be bought, Dana axles or any other axle that came on Jeeps from the factory.

So for example, if there was a vehicle with a fiberglass tub that resembled a CJ, but it had D60's, the 304 V8, and a widely manufactured 6" lift kit I would call it a true Jeep.

But that's just my opinion.

I would say if you have the same frame and tub (or direct replacements), it's still the same vehicle.

Ya know my JK doesn't have power windows when the doors are off, and John Wayne wouldn't talk bad about another mans Horse.

when you have electric windows and locks, the rims cost more than a steak dinner, and the 4-wd lever has gotten so lonely it went out and shot itself. i think then, it loses its badge.

When it needs to be trailered. Then it is no longer a Jeep.
