Web Wheeler | If I see a huge built buggy that happened to be using a Jeep "shell" for the body & cab I'd still call it a Jeep, but to me a true Jeep has to have at least 3 of the following: original or factory replacement engine, original body, suspension components that can be bought, Dana axles or any other axle that came on Jeeps from the factory. So for example, if there was a vehicle with a fiberglass tub that resembled a CJ, but it had D60's, the 304 V8, and a widely manufactured 6" lift kit I would call it a true Jeep.
