what are yer thoughts on open style lug nuts

ive seen them in the past from time to time on various trucks/jeeps and really like the look.
was going to get a set and realized that i guess since the studs ends are susceptible to weather that they may rust out and be a pita to get wheels off eventually?

what say you

i could coat the studs with some lubricant maybe

You could probably spray the studs with some rustoleum paint. Maybe a light sanding and hit it again with the paint every tire rotation. Should be enough to keep them from rusting.

i see no problem with it, as the many cars/trucks come with open style lug nuts. most chevy trucks i know have open lug nuts with plastic screw on covers over them. i would not worry about it.

If you're put any kind of half decent miles on and rotate when you change your oil, they're not going to rust to the studs.. I'm currently running 2 open ended lugs on my drivers front simply because the plastic coverings came off.. Looks like stupid with just two open ended ones, but I'm not gonna pay between 10 and 15$ just for one.. They still do their job perfectly fine.. And i've put about 20K miles on since they came off
