It's pretty clean and honestly on craigs list in CA we see piles of crap for $3500. and why did this turn into a motor debate?

In your area you would probably fetch 3500 and maybe even 4 grand or more if you sold it right.

I don't think that thing would have a problem on the freeways here at 65 miles a day for 4 days a week. This place aint that bad.

i swapped a 4.0. and power is not my main concern. inclines would be.

Again, something easily remedied. Junkyard MPFI or a truck avenger carb.

Out of the box the 4.2 lacks in quite a few areas and I understand not everyone wants to mess around upgrading it to their needs. However, in my opinion, a 4.2 with some power upgrades and a junkyard MPFI conversion is just as good, if not better, than a 4.0.
