What Speakers to replace stock speakers with?

The stock stereo seems to be enough to drive some decent speakers, however, with only half-volume, they stock speakers seem to be overloaded. For those who have upgraded, what replacement speakers did you use was a direct replacement without having to modify the exisitng speaker mount locations?

My brother is giving me a nearly brand new 10" bass quad woofer setup for the backend, so, I just need to replace what's already exisitent in the Jeep. Any idea's?

I saw direct replacement speakers on the quadratec website. They looked decent, but if I remember correctly, they were a little pricey.

6" infinity kappa's in the sound bar.
5" was the correct size, but the 6" was easy to put in.

5" is the stock size? Anyone have experience with Sony speakers and how those work in the Wranglers. Any good sound bar suggestions?

Speakers

well, I've been looking at an overall speaker replacement and was wondering more about specs and recommendations for some high end speakers. Still looking for a goos speaker setup with the stock amp.

i replaced mine with Sony Xplod, had to do a little trimming on the dash speaker (the internal plate that actually holds the speaker, not the bezel) they sound great.

I just replaced mine with Memphis speakers. I put 6-1/2" ones in the sound pods and 5-1/4" ones in the dash. I bought the adapter brackets from www.offroadtoystore.com to fit the 5-1/4" ones in the dash. They sound great and came with external crossovers. The part that sold me on the Memphis speakers is the non-descript speaker grill. Unless you look close, you can't see that they are upgraded speakers. I also run the stock stereo unit. Here are some lousy cell phone pics but you get the idea.

Looks like it's a custom job. 8" with a built in amp.

Well, my brother has a really nice 10" sub-woofer setup he is sending me. It has it's own amp and I'm looking for a replacement for the stockers to go along with this setup. Here is what he sent me. I think I may have to tear the sub box and the amp board apart.

'The general dimensions are 47-1/2" wide X 10-1/4" tall X 6-1/2" deep (on the bottom, 4-1/2" deep on the top where the sub is mounted). The sub box is calculated to have the necessary air space top move the sound.

One could always cut this apart if necessary and mount the amp and sub seperately. That would then make the sub box 29-1/4" wide, and the amp board 18" long.'
