Warn 8274

I'm thinking of pulling the Warn 8274 Winch off my jeep and maybe getting a little more low profile winch. I don't see needed a winch that often here at the beach so it's a little more than I need. Doing some researh I have found that it seems to be the benchmark for hard core jeepers in the winch department. It is in great condition, probably never used, My jeep only has 9000 Miles on it and it was bought new for this jeep. What do you guys think it is worth?

HI,
Are you doing this for looks or performance? For performance, the 8274 can't be beat and I think you are nuts for replacing it.

It's not just the hardcore Jeepers that value the 8274. It's anybody who is stuck and can't afford to have their winch fail. That could be anybody including you.

Being at the beach, you might consider getting a Pull Pal. It's made for the sand. But you still need a good winch.

Looks is the only reason, I took it off today and already like it better... I know I'm gonna kick myself when and if the day comes I need a winch but I can't stand how big that thing is on my bumper. My jeep never overheats but it sure seems like it would with 90% of the grill covered up by the winch. I'm looking to get a shorter one that would be shorter.

HI,
It won't overheat. There is plenty of airflow. Thousands of 8274 users will agree. I repeat, I think you are nuts.

I run one and it is a great winch.
Back the OP original question. Alot depends on how fast you want to sell it.
I would say anywhere from $600 to $1000.

93 YJ SOA 2" springs front, XJ springs rear w/main leaf added, High pinon 9 inch rear detroit locker front Dana 44 ARB 4.56 Gears, 36 inch Irok tires too much to list.

OK Sparky,
I'll keep it. I took it off for the 99% of the time I won't need it driving around the city streets of Pacific Beach though. It's pretty easy to put on so after researching prices on these things it makes more sense just to keep the one I have. The Warn 9.5ti was the best option IMO to replace it to get the low profile I want but a little to pricey. I figured I could get around 700-800 for mine and that left to much out of pocket to get new one. So unless anyone out there wants to trade straight across I'll keep mine. Thanks for your input!
