Walmart no longer pro rates batteries??? Rant

I purchased a medium sized Everstart 61 battery on 5/14/12 and this weekend (6/8/13) the battery was dead and wouldn't take a charge. Took the battery back to Walmart and they said the warranty had expired and that's that. No exchange, no pro rate, no discount, nothing! I understand that the battery is out of warranty but I still feel bitter. The battery Lasted one year and 24 days.

My mission, make it new one piece at a time!

Wow, buy a duralast gold. 2 year pro rated and 3 year free replacement. Sucks that wal mart did that. I figure any battery has at least a 2 year warranty or some sort.

Thanks to Anticanman who gave me a membership!

Around here it seems Walmart got out of the auto biz and is turning their shops over to jiffy lube. So it would not surprise me the rules changed.

Buy an Autocraft Gold battery from Advance Auto... 3 yr free replacement 5 yr prorated after that. Buy it online and use the code "trt41" at check-out to get $40 off of $100. Plus they will install it for free if you are feeling lazy.

Buy cheap, get cheap!

a dead giveaway would have been the 12 month warranty when so many 2-3 yr ones are out there.

I understand being upset that your battery only lasted 13 months but why are you upset that the store won't replace the battery when the 12 month warranty you bought expired before the battery died?

You bought a 12 month warranty and the store honored that 12 month warranty.

Keep in mind that free advice can frequently be worth less than you pay for it.

Longest lasting batter I ever had was an Interstate dep cycle with the flooded wet cells, none of this new sealed crap. You had to top up the water every so often, but it lasted 13 years!

12 month warranty?, I agree that you got your moneys worth, just like most new cars with the 3/36 warranty, something is sure to go wrong with the car a day after the warranty expires.

Don't worry about what sticker is on the battery there are two major builders of batteries johnson control and exide. Exide batteries are hit and miss johnson contoles makes a much better quality battery. Just a few batteries johnson control makes are optima, orielys, toyota, interstate, die hard and les schawb. All are the same battery with different stickers
