VIAIR install on an 02 TJ w/cruise and 5 spd

Of all of the searches I've done I couldn't find what I was looking for. I have an 02 TJ and I wanted to mount my compressor under the brake booster on the ABS tray. The problem was that the vapor canistor and the cruise control servo was in the way. Along with the clutch master cylinder resevoir.

First I made a tray out of some 1/4 aluminum plate. Then a made some mounts for the compressor and a manifold from some scrap aluminum. The manifold has provisions for the high pressure relay and an air pressure gauge.

After some test fitting, and some Duplicolor red I was ready to bolt things down. Here is a shot of it dry fitted.

I bolted down the tray using the original bolts.

Next it was time to bolt the manifold down, and bend the lines to the air tank and the regulator. For the lines I used 3/8 brake lines that I got at the local NAPA truck store. I used compression fittings on the manifold, regulator and the air tank.

I bought a regulator at Lowes and used a water separator I had laying around. I made a bracket for the regulator from the same material I used for the tray. Here is one of the lines I bent to go from the manifold to the regulator.

Here you can see everything attached to the manifold.

Then I removed a core support rod bolt and attached the manifold bracket to the support.

Here is a shot from the engine side, you can see the line comming from the compressor to the manifold, then the two solid lines comming out.
Attachment 412948
This shot shows the regulator line running behind the windshield washer bottle.
Attachment 412949
Here is a shot of the filtered air for the compressor. It's just a bulkhead fitting to the air cleaner.
Attachment 412950
Here is the finished deal. I had to raise the cruise control up but it all fits under the closed hood.
Attachment 412952
The wiring was super easy, I just followed the directions. I used a switch I had bought off of EBAY. I think it looks pretty good

Looks great. Where is the tank?

I mounted the tank underneath, next to the frame rail, opposite of the muffler. I'll post pictures later this afternoon.

I mounted the air tank underneath, right behind the skidplate. Since I have the UCF belly skid I felt I couldn't use the petcock for the drain.

I may fab a seperate skid for the drain, I don't know.
Here is a shot from the passenger side.
Attachment 413528
Looking back at the tank you can see the line going in.

Oh and my frame doesn't look this rusty in person.

Thanks, I got the airbox idea from a thread by SKOTT. He did his that way and I liked it.
