Trail Tool Bag Socket Storage/Organization

Those of you who carry sockets in your trail tool bag, how do you store them? I am using the cheap metal clip rails that I cut down to shorter lengths, but no matter what I do, sockets will always fall out and roll around loose in the bag.

What is your better way?

Could you"lace" them on a piece of heavy cord or leather boot lace like a pearl necklace or charm bracelet. It would keep them together, but easy access.

Buy better rails. Try the plastic ones.

another kinda "off the cuff" idea.

A piece of 1" thick really dense foam with round holes cut into it just smaller than the socket size.

Nothing special, but I got a set of tool zipper pouches from Home Depot. One for Metric, one for SAE, and one for misc. Wrenches, socket extensions, files, hammer, punches, etc in a tool wrap from off-road trail tools. Then they all go into a tool bag.
