i am looking at this jeep and wanted some input
ksl.com - KSL Car Classifieds
it has a 350 out of an early 80's chev, trans and case from 88 blazer and d44 and 9" from 66 bronco.
my concerns, it will not pass emissions, owner says smog filter?? and a catalic converter
how strong are the 66 axles for 36" tires and v8?

She's pissed and wants to dump it. Go there and offer $4000. At either price, if it runs good and is reasonably well put together, it's a good buy
That's not the strongest 9" housing, but it should be able to handle the weight of a jeep fine.

i have also been told that no matter what i do it will not pass emmissions. i was told that you cannot swap any motor except one that can come from the factory, has anyone heard this? i know tons of people with v8's in jeeps but will that automatically cause you to fail emissions? or if that is not true what would it take to get it to pass emissions?

I'm here in Utah as well. None of my vehicles have required them to pass a visual test. As long as it passes safety and the sniffer on the tailpipe, then you should be in business.
Come to think of it, you're in Spanish Fork so it may be different in your county. Up here in Weber, a visual is not required.

It's my understanding that the replacement engine must be of the same year or newer than the vehicle and have all of the smog equiptment that is required for the year/model of the "replacement" engine.
Make sense?

You're in CA. Each state has it's own laws and requirements.

did u buy the jeep or what and i have never heard of any state saying u have to have the stock motor to pass. I still dont think the motor has to be stock and usually cars over 10 years old have a lot less emissions requirements
