Super annoying FJ cruiser owner friend!

anyone out there have any info that I can win an arguement with my buddy who has an FJ and says it is better off road, on road, stronger, etc. His point is a jeep is a piece of **** compared to his fj..non stop all the time, "i cant believe you wasted your money on a jeep...I kinda want to punch him, haha. he wont take his off the beaten path with me. I dont do anything hardcore, but still, just want to shut him up...

to clarify, i really don't care, but everyone has had that friend that just knows everything and what ever he has is far superiour...

He keeps bothering you about it because he's THAT insecure about it.

Just tell him until he proves it offroad, he needs to shut up.
If push comes to shove, at least you can have fun in yours, his bloated jelly bean will always be a cumbersome failed retro attempt.

Tons of reasons why the Jeep is better.

Just point to his front axle and say it must be broken, mine is one piece. Or ask him to back into a parking space.

Talk is cheap-

If you can't OUTDRIVE him off-road-----

Then he's probably right for your circle !

The Jeep helped win WWII. The FJ is the product of a past defeated enemy.

One of my best friends has a FJ Cruiser, a 05 Rubicon, and an old YJ. Guess which one is used more off road, and which one is used more to get groceries.

The FJ is a nice rig, but apples to oranges. It can't go on the really tight trails here that a jeep can, without some scratches and body damage.

FJ Cruisers do just fine offroad. I have a good buddy than takes his with us all the time. The real limiting factor is not having a solid front axel to help with articulation, but with a locker in the rear, it will go most places with a good driver behind the wheel. The truth is that your experience off road is probably the most important factor. I always say, if someone likes to wheel, we have something in common, regardless of the vehicle.

By a technical standpoint, the FJ cruiser is better than a Jeep in every single way. It was primarily designed for the North American market, but has begun selling in other countries. And it's manufactured in Japan, but like I said it's primarily sold here in the states/Canada. It's not a unibody like some seem to think, it's a standard body on frame design. And they're way smoother riding thanks to the IFS, makes them smoother offroad at speed as well. The biggest downfall is they're just an ugly and boxy design, with horrid blind spots!

In a real world environment, a Wrangler is better equipped to tackle mostly all terrains, has few blind spots, and is the #1 selling 4x4 in the world. I personally prefer a Wrangler, and that says a lot especially since I work for Toyota. When you get down to it, the FJ makes a nice road going vehicle, with limited offroad capability, whereas a Wrangler has good road characteristics AND can go basically anywhere you want on this planet.

This is also coming from someone who has driven numerous Wranglers and FJ Cruisers.

Just be humble and say " let's go off roading this weekend" take him to some tight trails with mild rock crawling. Find a spot where is suspension will limit him especially if you have a rubicon or lockers. By the end of the day you won't have to talk to prove its better and he will know because he will have seen it.

People who talk **** all day long are stupid. Tell him to shut the **** up. Sounds like he lacks self esteem.

My brother has one so naturally we have this argument lots. After playing around with both even he will admit the Wrangler was built for off-road and the FJ wasn't. Just point out how every time an FJ goes down a hill it lifts a back wheel off the ground! It's very easy to do in one of those. Plus less body damage from trees and being able to see is nice!
