Sold the JK yesterday. I am still a Jeep owner though. Have been for many years. You JK boys and girls are a good bunch of people. I am just gonna move over on the forums a bit. Back to the Grand Cherokee side.
I'll give you my Jeep history in pics. Started Jeepforum with this:

Why'd you decide to sell the JK?

I liked it, just hated the lack of power. It is quite the dog. My TJ seemed much more powerful. I also missed my GC. We have wanted one ever since we got rid of it. The JK is a good Jeep.

Is the MPG of your V8 same as JK? I was planning to buy a Rocky mountain before but I love the looking of a topless wrangler and finally bought a Sahara, similar prices for those two. Yeah, the acceleration is slow on hwy.

I think you would have been better served by getting a 4 door JK and regearing. I too complained about lack of power. With my gears and tire combo, I have no complaints about power anymore. To each his own. The GC is not in the same class as a JK, so if something more refined suits you, then at least you are staying in the family.

I know what you mean about lack of power on the JK vs. the TJ. I have just returned from a week doing the Jeep trails in Ouray and Silverton area. On the first trail, I hit an area that I had been able to traverse in 4Hi only with the TJ last year. When I tried the same thing with the JK this year, nothing doing. I looked like a novice fool trying to get my way up a relatively small steepish mound. Lesson learned, from then on I went to 4Lo and all was well. I climbed everything I had with the TJ in years past. Like Prot said, gearing is the answer. The really sweet thing about the JK is its ability to get me down the highway in smooth, quiet comfort and then become a very capable off roader. A real Jekyll and Hyde mobile. By the way both my TJ and the JK (current Jeep) were Rubicons and Unlimited models. 4.10 rears. The thing that really worked well on the JK Rubi was the sway disconnect. What a difference it makes!!! I know, I could have put disconnects on my TJ but I never got around to it. I'm sold on them now!!! One other thing: mpg. My average was a little over 20mpg (hand calculate). Turns out the onboard instrument mpg was dead on to my average at the end of the trip. Along the way the computer avg. would vary from my hand calculates but after 3000miles it was spot on. Onlyone, glad you're still in the Jeep "thing".

I had the 4:10's in the JK and the 32's. The wheeling I do, I would have not put much bigger of tire on it. I did not like the looks of the 4 door and I really don't need them in the WK but they are there. I did quite a bit of wheelin in my WJ and my TJ. There is no where I want to go where my Grand won't take me. They should have left the Grand alone instead of using IFS, but even a stock WK will impress you offroad. I will sooner or later get a small lift and bigger tires. I have the factory front and rear electronic limited slips and the skid plate group. Don't get me wrong, I liked my JK, but this suits me better. As far as MPG I never got better than 16 on the highway or combined in my JK. I will get 20 plus out of this and be more comfortable doing it. I did not buy this for MPG. My Subaru Impreza is for that.

MPG is a bit better on the WK but the power is night and day difference. You have a nice ride in the JK. I wanted some more power and hey, I got a power sunroof! I will miss taking the top down though. I was going to buy an 08 due to the 4.7 V8 making almost 300 hp but I got such a good deal on this new 07 I couldn't go wrong. They had 5 07 CRD WK's and 2 RME's left. I bought the one with the bells and whistles.

hey not a bad choice. I got to admit though after having an auto 2dr JK with 4.10 gears and now having a manual 4dr with 4.10 gears the manual makes a big difference. The auto was slow but with the manual things seem quicker and I control the gears.
