It came in today , I ordered it from summit on Tuesday $617 shipped and was here on Thursday .so big thumbs up to summit for shipping . This thing is beefy ,the shipping said it was 109 lbs for a bunch of tubes so you know their thick . I'll get it outta the box and installed on Sunday after my bed liner dries . I'll get those measurements for you either tomorrow or saterday but at first glance I'm very happy with the cage and summit !!!

If the measurements don't wort out for you I have a smittybuilt over head gear bag thing I won't be able to use anymore . I'm gonna try to get the pouches to mount up but I won't be able to use the steal plate that it attaches to
. I also have a cb mount that goes up the a piller and mounts the cb above the drivers vents that I won't be able to use either .

I haven't read every post in this thread and other have probably noted this but one thing about Smittybilt that's bothering me more and more is how a great deal of what they offer as "NEW" products are direct ripoffs of products manufactured by great USA companies. These companies have supported us for years by sponsoring 4X4 events and by giving us superior customer service. I'm not saying that I don't have a any Smittybilt products, I do and I have never had any significant quality issues but when they shamelessly copy US products like this Sport Cage that Rockhard 4X4 has been selling for years it really bothers me. Another example is Smittybilts new CO2 system. It's a shameless ripoff of the Powertank and even the regulator and carry bag are made to look the same. It's tempting to go for the cheaper product that looks identical but eventually it will put more Americans out of work. Everything that Smittybilt makes comes from China.
I own a RockHard 4X4 sport cage that was made in the USA and I love it. When I needed RockHard to do something custom for me on my cage it wasn't a problem. They speak english and I don't speak Chinese and don't intend to.
Support land access - Support our Troops - Support and buy products made in the USA when you can - Support companies that provide the customer service you deserve. Support your local 4X4 business so they can stay open to serve you later.
Here's a photo of my RockHard 4X4 Sport Cage. It's a bit custom. The control panel was my invention, designed and put together by me, an American in Las Vegas Nevada USA using switches, readouts, wire and connectors probably made in China. I expect to see it pop up soon in the Smittybilt catalog.

I like your cage and agree with your point of view. But there are also Americans selling the smitty bolt products. So if we stop buying from them it will put them out of work too. So its a coin toss. But just cause its built in America doesn't justify a $400 up charge for the same product. Also that product doesn't include paint or powder coat. I mean I'm willing to buy a American built product over an over seas one. But where you draw the line? Rock hard needs to look into competitive pricing to stay in the game. Or give a better reason to spend the extra cash on theirs then "its built in the USA" . Cause if we slowed down the import side of things, how many dock workers would lose jobs? Gotta look at the big picture of things. Just my $.02

Hey Suiter,
I like the overhead console! It's clean! My only concern would be sticking down too far. Do you hit your head on it at all? I cut the center section out of my cage so I could enjoy more sunshine.

It's a tough situation with a lot of different opinions. Much like the small town about to have a Super Walmart move in. The up side is it will support a lot of people with low paying jobs with minimum benefits and you can get 6 pairs of tube socks for $1 The down side is many of those special small businesses on main street that have supported the community for decades can no longer compete and end up having to close the doors. We are doing all of this to ourselves by not protecting our own.

But who we protect more, the few or the majority? It is a tough choice. I have to deal with it all the time being in fire/ems field.

I built the control panel two or three years ago and don't recall ever hitting my head on it. (perhaps I hit my head) I'm 5' 6" so not excessivly tall but I do have 1-1/2" riser blocks under both seats. (which about everyone should have)
I used rocker switches rather than togggles to keep the profile low on everything except the 12-Volt Guy winch control. I really like having my locker controls up there and the winch control is ideal with forward on the toggle switch being spool out on the cable and back on the toggle switch is spool in. (very easy to translate in your head) Having grab handles in the center is also real nice when you are going around a corner with the doors off. The console project is one of my favorite upgrades with no regrets and never a problem with any part of it. I'd make them to sell if they were easy to put together. I'm trying to invent something easy like the pet rock, post-it notes or white out.

How does your console mount to the center bars?

I ordered the Rockhard 4X4 sport cage without the standard lower panel so that I could weld in four tabs. Speed nuts clip to the tabs. The upper and lower panels are attached to the sport cage with four stainless steel screws on each side. This way I can access the panel from either the top (which would be easiest) or from the bottom which could come in handy if the hard top is on. Both sides are sealed against the elements with automotive type rubber weather stripping.

RH is made of HREW or maybe they stepped up, SB is DOM. Ill take the china/Our sold to them DOM any day. I got my SB for $300 and its full, Un like RH where your better off with a actual custom cage for the same price and SB comes powder coated. They also suppoet off road in the USA, They held the KOH EMC.
But in the end, They are bolt in cages and are nothing more than for looks. To each their own
