RubiTrux.com

I'm pretty sure everyone has seen the AEV Brute...but I was driving through Boone, NC today and came across High Country 4x4. They had a new sign up and 5 or so "RubiTrux" out front. I guess its a new thing they're doing...trying to keep up with the people at AEV. I don't know anything about them (HighCountry4x4), but thought some of you might wanna check them out. I think they look kinda goofy @ stock height...a mild lift and some 35's make them look soooo much betta!

Here's a pic so that people know what the hell you're talking about.

To me, it's no more than a top, IMO. The AEV kit has a lot more engineering in it. I bet that thing is much cheaper though.

I think I saw one of those on a Jeep at a local mud pit event. This guy had so much money dumped into his jeep, it was very nice ... I talked to him for a while and took a look at it up close, it looked very well engineered. But then again, I don't know ****.

Looks like an LJ with a different top and roll bar
Edit: After reading some on their site, it is an LJ with an AEV Brute top.

With the AEV Brute Kit, you actually cut your frame and body tub, and lengthen your vehicle with extensions. This kit appears to be just a half cab top, and you cut off the back of your roll bar. Kind of a weird concept, I guess if you really want a hard top, no storage space inside, and a tiny bed, and less structural integrity because you have no rear roll bar, then go for it.

IMO the Brute is 10x's better than these rubitrux, but I thought it was interesting to see them trying to get into the market

would be a good way to lighten up the jeep if you're looking to save weight

GR8TOPS conversions

the one shown in the picture above in the thread is actually one of our tops.

http://www.gr8tops.com

Rubitrux is offereing both versions with an AEV top or a GR8TOP

Here at our shop, we have done some where we pass the cage through the hardtop with some special rubber grommets.

normally I drool over just about anything AEV puts out, but I think they fell on their face with the production top for the brute. the prototype looked so much better IMO. I wonder if gr8tops' offering would work with the brute conversion parts?

I've seen a couple of these @ carlots & on the road in the area, & they look alot better with a lift & some tires, but these cost ALOT less than a brute

Gr8tops

the GR8TOPS bulkhead will work with the AEV top (although we obviously prefer our hardtop)

The GR8TOPS hardtop will NOT work on the BRUTE closeout cab as it is a bit shorter than the AEV top.

I think they look good but the guy who sells them is a punk he sold me a LJ soft top that was supposed to include all the hardware. When it arrived guess what no hardware. I called him back and he said he would mail it out and it never came. After that he wouldnt answer my phone calls. So I had to spend another $100 after the $700 I already paid for the top. I believe his name was Chad Hamby.
