Please...cost torebuild automatic tranny 2005 Unlimited??

Just had the solenoid block & electronics replaced for $1,000, didn't fix problem, so now they need to comepletely rebuild transmission for $2,400 more!? What is the going rate for 2005 Unlimited automatic
rebuild. I am in a very small town with few options. Is this $ way out of line?

Rebuild for the tranny on my 98 TJ was about 1500$...sounds a bit expensive for a rebuild. Can find new ones for that. Did a google search for you: https://www.google.com/?gfe_rd=ssl&e...=vw:l,p_ord:pd check it out: most expensive down to least.

I would consider the 1k as the price paid for the learning experience. A bad one at that.
Would I take the Heep down to the locals for deep engine work.....NOPE.
And a transmission....... with miles on it. The best bet is to have it replaced and if you can't do it yourself have a qualified shop do it.

I saw one for sale on Pirate earlier this week for 600 IIRC. Could pay shipping and installation and still save money.
