Orfab tire carrier

Is anyone using the orfab tire carrier? Im looking at getting the one without the jerrycan holder so the tire wont stick out so far.
Wonering how it holds up over time. Thanks.

Iím not using one but I can tell you that they have been selling those for many years. I saw my first one at a SEMA show over 14/15 years ago that was for a CJ-7 and of all the manufactures that had their carriers on display ORFAB was the only one that did not rattle.

The basic design has not changed and thatís a plus. It comes with lots of internal bracing and brackets, takes a while to install but is worth the effort in my opinion.

I have had one for 3 years. It is the one with can carriers and I haul 5 gallons of gas, 5 gallons of water, Hi lift, shovel and a 32 inch spare. No rattles or any other problems, love it!

I run the OR Fab with Rotopax, have for over a year and a half, and no rattles or squeaks, even when fully loaded with 6 gallons of gas + a hi lift + a 100 lb spare. Love it.

same here! No problems at all, but it was a chore to install. I run the one with the jerry can holder.

Going to order it tonight. Think I will go with the jerry can one but use that space to hold my softdoors when they're off

WARNING!! I sent an e-mail to OR fab about mounting this with a Garvin Expedition rack on my TJ. They said based on the photos they didn't think it would fit without some modifications. If you've already ordered please document your install. This is my first choice for a tire carrier and I really hope it works!

I can't mod/fab my way out of a paper bag so I hope you can do a straight install.

Good luck!

Cant post pic's on here, files are to big. Install went ok. Once I got tools lined up and had a couple glitches fixed the install went good. I'll try posting pic's on the JF facebook page.

Did you have to modify anything or was the install done fairly stock?

I had to remove the garvin racks rear supports and brackets cause it interferes with the orfab brackets. Just need to fab and drill some new brakets to fix this. Everything else fit as it should. Hardest part of the job was removing tha factory torx bolts. Have to remove tailgate, hinges, right tail light, bolts for rear rollbar and canister thing behind taillight if you have one, to install. And drill about 10 holes.
I drove about 250 miles after the install and had no rattles so seems good to me. I put a few pics over on the jf facebook page. Was to wrapped up with the install to take "during" pics sorry.
