NP 231 for $380- good deal?

I can get a recently rebuilt NP231 21 spline transfer case for my 92 banger and was wondering if $380 was a good price-

That seems a little high to me, not horrible. I woud look on ebay and craigslist. Around $300 on ebay (Some have free shipping) is about an average price. On craigslist you can find them for $100-$200.

If you have one already you can get a rebuild kit from them for $130 or so from quadratec. Maybe cheaper from somewhere else. They are actually really easy to work on. I put a slip yoke eliminator in my jeep and was nervous about getting into the transfer case. But it was really easy to get in there and work on.

If you have "price check" questions - please feel free to post those in Wrangler General Discussion, not here in tech.

Thanks,
Joe

BTW: I sold my old NP231 with an SYE already installed for ~$300 shipped (shipping was not cheap across the country).

i would not pay 380 for a tcase.

there are tons of np231 tcases out there, most people wind up giving them away , or selling for like 100 bucks tops.

keep looking

What does "rebuilt" mean?? did he put a seal in it and call it good???

As far as price, that is WAYYYY to high. I can find 231's around here WITH an SYE for $300.
