My 2004 LJ, Auto and a story of an amazing mechanic in Jacksonville FL.

Hey Gang

This is about my 2004 LJ, auto.

A couple of weeks ago, some may recall that I had an issue where I blew a trans cooler line in the middle of BFE. Not fun.

When I finally got my jeep back home I stopped by my mechanic, Happy Trails 4 x 4 in Mayport Fl. who did the cooler install. I stopped in to ask if it was OK to have 2 different kinds of transfluid in the transmission. Amsoil, which I had just had Melvin put in a couple of months ago, and 2 quarts of the Dealer ATM fluid. He was really busy that day and confirmed it would not be an issue. I was fine, on my way I went.

Two days later I get a call from Carol the office Manager asking me to bring the jeep in, Melvin wanted to change out the fluid and inspect the rest of the lines. AT NO CHARGE!!!!!!!

I bring the jeep into his shop and Melvin replaces all the lines, installs wire conduit on all the lines, and changes out the fluid to fresh amsoil. Again at NO CHARGE.

I am the first to complain when I am done wrong, so I want to be the first to Thank and recommend this shop for anyone in the NE Florida area that is looking for a First Rate Jeep Mechanic.

Happy Trails 4X4

Thank for letting me Rant.

Thanks for the story. I think it is great when people/businesses take ownership of their work and make things right.

Sounds like a guy who puts customers and quality of work first.

Most compatible fluids (atf4 vs atf4) can be mixed.

I don't think that was what was stated here. The shop owner was more concerned that he stood behind his work and insured that the customer would not have a repeat problem.

Nice. Good to read these stories. Most are about the shop trying to get over on someone.

You don't think Jiffy Lube would do the same thing?
