I took the heap to the cb shop this morning and the guy there was surprised it tuned as easy as it did the way it is mounted. It looks like it will work ok the way it is. I would go taller, but the garage is only about 2 inches taller than the Jeep. And the parking garages around here are not much taller.

That being said, I'll probabally be getting a 4' antenna for when I go on weekend wheeling/road trips and such.

Well, on to the next project....

Removing the padding from the roll bars. Sounds simple doesn't it. Not so much. The bars are not completely painted. And where they are painted, they are not clear coated and scratch very easily. So, I got them pulled from the Jeep today and will be sanding/repainting them very shortly here.

Lousy paint job on the rear bars and the verticals.

And the crossbar.

Where the bars were mounted in the front. There was a lot of the glue like crap to cut away to free the cage here.

And, where the rear bars mounted, not all the glue crap, but still stuck on there pretty good.

Also got to a few other small projects I've been meaning to do....

Fire extinguisher mount: (1 on the drivers side and 1 on the passengers side)
I ran bolts down into the pan where the front of the seat mounts and then I put my rags under the rear of the extinguisher to support it and help take some weight off the mount.

Sway bar retainer, McMaster Carr bar clamp to keep the sway bar from shifting side to side all the time.

As she sits right now

did you remove the fenders to do the Herc or just tape them off and do them on the Jeep?

I removed them. Its really not that hard to do and it saved any worries about getting Herc. on the Jeep.

Yesterday evening I received the parts I ordered from Rokmen.

-Transfer case skid (TT)
-Engine / Transmission Skid
-Gas Tank Skid
-1.25" BL
-1" BMML

Today I installed the Body Lift and Motor Mount Lift. I am really surprised how easy of a job it was. I did the job myself and both combined took about 5 hours. And that includes 1 hour of fighting with the stupid bumpers on either side of the grill to get them to seat completely! I used the videos Rokmen has on Youtube as my instructions and the whole project went quite smoothly.

I plan to paint the skid plates with POR15 before installing them so I will not be getting to those right now. Soon though!

The only thing I did differently than the video instructions was when it came to installing the side bumpers under the grill. I could not get them to pop into place, even after removing the headlights and grabbing the tops with a vise grips. I left them in place, lined up, and proceeded to torque all the body mounts down. When I came back to the bumpers, the added pressure helped them pop right into place.

Thanks Dave and Jeff, you make an excellent instructional video!
