Awesome.

FWIW, I have visited Halifax a couple of times, and while there got consistently more drunk than any other place I have ever been (ever!). I can only imagine a paint job applied after that sort of booze-fueled stupidity.

we got there, the hood is up, and it has an optima(looks good) but the guy said the batt was dead so it wouldnt start. start looking at it anyway and the frame has so much undercoat on it that it could cover any good/bad so i took a hammer and taped it along both sides, seemed solid but again there is over 1/4 inch of crap on the frame so hard to tell what might be hiding in there, especially with all the other stuff i found. so i started looking at the body... the front fenders are gone, if you look under them he didnt bother to cover the body fill that was holding them toghether, and the passenger one was already developing a hole again. the floors in the front are going to need attention in the next year as around the drain plugs(which were missing) was no longer a small round hole and the whole floor was covered in thick scale of rust, which brought me to the next point, he claims that it was never off road. I have yet to find somene that takes out the plugs and doesnt take it offroad a bit. The inside is wrote, he had old food/garbage/junk and a lifejacket piled in the back to the height of the seet bottom in the back seat( i didnt look at the floor there because of this), there are some parts of the interior that has ben painted to match the outside, but poorly .

the paintjob that he claimed was done by a pro body man looks like he did it after a weekend bender. the hood is only half painted, flat on the outside, and shiny on the raised portion, the fenders are flat, the window frame is shiny, the doors are flat the rear corners are flat and everywhere he could get the spray bomb easily around the rear tire on the gate is flat, but there will be a shiny circle if you ever take the tire off. also he couldnt manage to paint the tub where the rear corner armour didnt cover, so there is some strips of shiny paint there also. For it being a "pro" job, there is overspray on the mirrors, the side windows/hardtop and all over the back window, and not just a little hase but enough you could tell the color from inside the glass.

It does have about a 5" full traction lift, and apparently gears in the housings(dont they all have gears) but he couldnt tell me what ratio, the control arm brackets are all banged to crap(i guess that no being off road means he considers rock piles early stages of road building materials)and of course the 35's. the 2 that might have had 20% tread had so many weather cracks in them(on was the spare) that i would not dare drive it across the street, the other 3 were bald enough we wouldnt have dared to drive it back to moncton in the snowstorm that day, and they were equally weather cracked. It had a tabor 9 or 12 k winch with synthetic rope, and i considered that to be the past part of the whole jeep.

We walked away, not even knowing about the bad tranny, starting the motor, or going for a test drive becaus even at 4500 its too much because there will be more surprises then less, and a new set of tires alone will set you back 12-1500$. it had a fairly fresh sticker, but surely had to be bought not earned with the mess we saw.

in the end we went to the island and picked up an 03 never winter driven mint shape sahara with less miles, 2" lift, nice rims and 31's winch on front, new winch in a box and new soft top in a box for 5200$ so i would keep looking. There are some nice jeeps around in the range you are looking for
But really I'm pissed. I paid 6500 for mine with no winch and little tires and no new soft top. You suck

So that was the only highlight He said the last guy took it off road, but not him and he said he has had it for 6 years.. so yeh there was some bs coming from him thats for sure.

Good to hear u got a good deal on your jeep! guess ill just have to buy a pink golf or yaris...

^ Those three look like decent candidates.

A friend of mine that worked as a sales manager at a Jeep dealership said that in Canada, the factory 30" wheel and tire package came with a D44. I am throwing that out there to help sort the ads.

thats correct, called the big wheel package in canada, the 30" tire package automatically gets the d44, as does later saharas

Typically if you find a Jeep that is lifted and has many of the desired options it is going to show it's age. The original owner most likely ran it hard and you don't know what you are getting into. I suggest finding a stock jeep that some guy just used to run around town in, then build it the way you want it. It may cost more up front but in the long run you will save money in repairs plus that is half the fun of owning a Jeep. Good luck.

Not entirely true. You could buy the big tire package which got you 3.73 gears and the gambler rims with 30x9.5 tires. However that didn't mean a 44. If you got a 44 you got all of the above. My 98' had the big tire package which did NOT include the 44. Unfortunately!
