Just got back from deployment and it's time to start working on my Jeep. Everyone has build threads so I'm going to keep one for this too.
Here are my previous rigs:
EDIT: found some pictures of my first two Jeeps, the 99 was my first I got when I was 17, the CJ I bought for $500, stretched it on a 19 year old budget and beat the hell out of it. It was a piece of junk but fun, looking back I'm somewhat embarrassed by my fab work back then (apparently it CAN get worse than it is now)...taught myself to weld on that rig.
99 TJ on 4.5" RE and 33s:
78 CJ7 on Dakota leaves and 35s:
91 YJ on 35's:
01 WJ on 37's:
Current rig the day I brought it home:
I made a couple minor changes right before I deployed, then changed my mind on the setup while I was gone:
And as it sits now (1 Mar 15):
Rough rundown on what's on it:
Clayton arms connected with a mix of Clayton/home made brackets
4" Currie Coils
Bilstein 5100s
Metalcloak Overlines/rockers/rear tube flares
Brown Dog 1"MML
UCF higher clearance skid
Genright plate rear bumper
35" MTRs on Allied Raceline 17" bead locks
ORFab rear tire carrier
ORFab front sport cage addition
Currie Anti rock
Nitro shafts
Carolina driveshaft in the rear
Spare set of Ten Factory front and rear chromoly shafts
4.88s--factory lockers still
ORO U-turn steering linkage (seems to still be in good shape so I don't plan on swapping it)
The overall plan was to keep it on 35's while changing out some of the POs build choices for ones I like better. Also going to be getting the preventative MX back up to speed as I go since it didn't move much the last 7-8 months.
This TJ isn't going to be anywhere near as big of a build as my WJ was. Just going to keep it moderate and reliable enough on the stock 44s. Eventually I'm going to swap out the factory lockers for ARBs as well but not sure I'll get around to that before I head to Korea for a year.
