Allowing to proliferation of sub standard use of the English language is tantamount to complacency and only further degrades the already declining health of the American educational system. I believe it is two fold, 1) if people read what they type and or so down 2) stopped relying on technology to fix what they really want to say. Besides everyone knows the curriculum changed twenty years ago to dump grammer and spelling past 6th grade.
If a guy is talking about his manual transmission and mentions the clutch and the master/slave, and all the other things that indicate it's a manual gearbox....but then he, inadvertently or otherwise, refers to his "flex plate", do you:
1) Understand what he meant by that, and allow the conversation to continue, because it's hardly worth mentioning and making a spectacle
2) Correct him only in passing, such as "I think you meant pressure plate, but I understood what you meant..."
3) make a short, unhelpful, snarky, passive-agressive post: "What flex plate?"

If ye love wealth better than liberty, the tranquility of servitude better than the animating contest of freedom, go home from us in peace. We ask not your counsels or arms. Crouch down and lick the hands which feed you. May your chains set lightly upon you, and may posterity forget that ye were our countrymen.
