The JK is now slotted to last through 2018, making it the longest running Wrangler model ever. So that now makes me wonder if they are going to wait until 2018 for a diesel, or stick a new US compliant diesel into the JK.

Amen. I have an 89 YJ and my wife runs an 87 560SL roadster. No interest in new vehicles.
