really depends on your area, age, record, full coverage/liability,and other factors. I have the 2 xj and a yj and its like $100 for all 3. i pay it monthly, if i paid yearly it would be $900ish. My driving record is not pretty either.

First: This isn't really a "Build" question...it's more "General" than anything else. Second: Yes, Wranglers have a higher-than-average premium in North Carolina.
Third: Call your insurance agent and get a quote...they can tell you much more than anyone here.

If I wanted to know how much it would cost to insure a vehicle, I'd talk to a few insurance companies. The folks that work for those companies are usually pretty good about providing premium information.

I guess you could ask the question on the internet and get an estimate. But don't be surprised when your insurance company comes up with a different number than the on you go from an internet forum.

I've not found them to be. When I bought my 05 TJ new, insurance on it was cheaper than the coverage on my 2000 Dakota, and the wife's 04 Grand. Had a Civic EX for commuting for a while, and it was the most expensive thing I've ever insured. Apparently people like to steal/vandalize those...

So no, I wouldn't expect sticker shock when you look for insurance on a Jeep. It won't be any worse than anything else you try to insure.

There was a listing a year or so ago and the Wrangler was one of the ten CHEAPEST to insure. And it was the only one of the ten which was a special interest vehicle (the others were econoboxes and minivans).

Here's 2011 rankings. I'm sure 2012 is not that different.

My TJ costs about 40 a month for full coverage.

Just for comparison, my 4-door JK is $90 a month for full coverage, including a $50 glass deductible, so even new Jeeps are fairly inexpensive to insure.

Wranglers are not expensive ot insure because replacement parts are so readily available, and the labor for installing them is inexpensive as well...

When I got my '95 YJ, I removed my 2001 Ford Escort and added the YJ, my payments are $30 less a month, and the YJ doesn't have airbags, ABS, or any other safety features that the Escort had. When I asked my agent why it was so much cheaper, he told me that it's because the damage done to a Wrangler is much less expensive to repair than it would have been for the Ford. The rates are pretty much based on what the insurance company would be expected to pay for repairs in the chance that there is a collision.

Wait! You mean insurance rates aren't based on meaningless numbers thrown out on internet forums. Next we'll find out that the insurance companies also consider your age, driving record, and geographic region.

Jeep Wranglers are one of the least expensive to insure. For full coverage I pay 85 dollars a month. Here's the article for reference: http://bucks.blogs.nytimes.com/2010/...les-to-insure/

My TJ is the cheapest vehicle to insure that Ive owned. My old 96 ZJ was about $200 a month; and Im paying that for my current 02 TJ and my 85 300zx. I pulled the coverage off my 300zx for a price quote, and my TJ was at $130 for PLPD.

(Ill never go with anything else but liability, fire, theft, and vandalism).
