Jeep Wrangler Rentals?

Do any car companies rent Wranglers? I'm in northern CA this summer for 7-10 days and I'd like to rent a new Wrangler for my commutes and maybe a trip up the PCH .

I've been looking with not much success for a rental company that offers Jeep. Dollar Rent A Car has the Wrangler in its lineup but apparently not for CA.

City Rent a Car is a small place in the SF area that rents -

Is there any other alternative?

Hertz as Jeep Wranglers in their fleet.

Avis also has Wranglers in their fleet.

Trying to book one might be tricky.

I have had the option in Saint Maarten and Costa Rica to rent wranglers easily because half of their stock in those places are either wranglers, geo trackers and something in between.

Hertz does not show them.

Looks like Avis may(?) have them in the 4-door Unlimited version in SF.

I'd rather have a "real Wrangler" in the short version. I guess I'm asking too much!

Basically every single rental car agency rents Wranglers here on the Big Island of Hawaii. You're not supposed to take them off-road, but they definitely go everywhere. All are Sports, though.

Must be an area thing. My parent live across the street from an enterprise rent a car and they have had TJ's and LJ's and now jk's can be seen in their lot from time to time. We would book in advance and tell them the vehicle we wanted.
But like I said, could be a area/state thing. Might not be able to rent certain vehicles in certain states for theft reasons. Good luck on your search either way

They show it on their website but they will not guarantee it. They are very vague when you contact them. Will not even say they have Wranglers!

The rental office managers can look and find what stock is available. I think they have to trade like dealers to get something in their stock that you'll want.

I tried to rent a Wrangler for the Bantam Jeep festival a few years ago. Best they could get me was a liberty. Good luck.

I just reserved a Wrangler through Avis for my vacation this summer. I fear that the Jeep Wrangler "or similar" may be not a Wrangler.

Anyone rent a Wrangler through Avis? I figure if I do get one, it will be a Sport model Unlimited.

I just had to rent a car after my TJ got rear ended. Lady at enterprise said they had an orange wrangler in just a couple days before I was in and that they had to trade another location to get an SUV in for me. May just take calling in and getting the right person who will help you out.

I have rented a Wrangler from Budget in Gunnison, CO a couple of times, but that was 15-20 years ago. One tip I learned in situations like this is to call the rental counter directly where you would want to pick the vehicle up. Possibly even ask for the manager on duty. Don't rely on the website or nation-wide 1-800 number, even if they mention Wranglers. Otherwise you are likely to wind up with the "or similar" vehicle. The local person would have a better chance of telling you accurately what will be available or what they can get.
