OK, I gotta ask. Please forgive my newbie ignorance, but what exactly is the Jeep Wave? I am dying to do it, I just don't know what it is.

When you notice another Jeep, Wave! Hopefully the owner in it will waves back (maybe even beat you to it). Around here 7/10 times they wave back / wave first.

Good grief... that whole rule thing may just make me boycott the wave. Too many people take it too seriously!
If it was just a fun sort of tongue-in-cheek thing, no big deal, but I've seen that posted and sworn by for a very long time now.

It is tongue-in-cheek, sort of.

Very few wave back. The last wave returned to me was from a JK.
That rule thing is a joke. If I scored my Jeep I am right around 5 points. All because I actually like to keep my Jeep clean. There is way to much emphasis on mud. I hate wheeling in the mud. It just wrecks things prematurely.

You'll get the wave from CJ's, YJ's and some TJ's, the newer the jeep, more like it's owned by a yuppie. The red neck jeep wave is with hands at 10 and 2 on the wheel and you just wave your index fingure without taking your hands off the wheel. Then there's the open palm wave, hands at 10 and 2 on the wheel and you left your 4 fingures on the right hand while still grasping the wheel. Then there's the Forest Gump wave. You remove your right hand from the wheel and wave wildlly back and fourth. The wave is not to be taken lightly, it's a sacared ritual performed by jeep owners for generations. It declares your part of a unique group, "the few, the proud, the marines, I mean the jeep owner"!!!!
