Jp is a good jeeps only mag. Most of the 4 wheel mags feature alot of articles on jeeps even yj's. There is way more stuff out there for jeeps vs others(scouts, landcruisers, sammys, broncos). The more people that own something the more you will se it in the mags. TJ's get more coverage than yjs. Try looking for stuff on scouts!

I used to get crawl all the time and then they were gone. I guess they came back last month. Great mag with lots of real tech.

I find most mags to be nothing more than advertising tools, their feature wrightups are nothing more than a multi page ad of something they are trying to sell.
I learn more from forums than from any mag wrightup I have ever read.

Most definitely. I think JP is actually one fo the worse magazine's, as they only car about the latest and greatest, and give lots of poor information. Forums and real-world experience are the best tools, if you are trying to learn. For just a good rag to page through, I enjoy Peterson's 4wd and Off Road.

Magazines, newspapers, and TV are all the same they are all trying to sell something or move you to their way of thinking, the best thing to do is get your info from multiple sources combine it in your head and figure out what is really the truth. Jeep Forum is a great place to subscribe to, also JP, Peterson off road, and 4wheeler, all have good jeep coverage, along with other vehicles. I like to read about more than jeeps because it helps give my ideas for the jeep.

JeepFreek is new and a bit different in that it also covers a lot of trail and back country stories. It's a paid issue magazine that you get online. A single issue is cheap 2.95. See if you like it.

JPFreek Adventure Magazine: Jeep and outdoor adventure lifestyle publication

[It may a bit odd for a paid online download, but since I've gotten Scientific American that way for years now, and haven't bothered with a paper copy.]

1. JP magazine (all Jeeps)
2. 4WD & Sport Utility Magazine (lots of Jeeps)
3. Four Wheeler (Jeeps and other vehicles)
3. Four Wheel Drive (it's a tie for 3rd place - Jeeps and other vehicles)
Dead last: Off Road Magazine (just chrome and show in my opinion)

Just like anything else you read, you have to read it with a bit of caution to make sure they're not just trying to sell you something. Magazine subscriptions are relatively cheap; I subscribe to #'s 1-3 above. I'd rather read my 4WD magazines than watch TV. And I learn stuff about other vehicles besides Jeeps (I also own a Dodge Ram 4x4 and a KIA Sorento 4x4).

I pick up a Peterson's every once in a while at walgreens, and it is pretty good, they cover alot of other 4X4's besides jeeps.
